Kenworth K300 Recall 15V206: Cruise Control Can Speed Up Instead of Slowing Down

NHTSA campaign 15V206, reported April 7, 2015, 379 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015-2016 Kenworth K300 and Peterbilt 220 trucks built between September 2014 and March 2015 have a cruise control problem. Each time the speed decrease button is pressed, the vehicle's speed actually increases by one mile per hour instead of decreasing.

If a driver presses the button intending to slow down but the truck speeds up instead, the risk of a crash increases. This is especially concerning for heavy trucks, where speed changes and stopping distances are significant.

The repair is free. PACCAR will notify owners, and authorized dealers will update the cab controller software at no charge. Owners can contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000 or Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000. Check your VIN for open recalls to confirm whether your truck is affected.
