Autocar ACX Recall 15V204: Mounting brackets may fail, letting a crossmember detach

NHTSA campaign 15V204, reported April 6, 2015, 195 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain garbage trucks built between March 2013 and September 2014, the aluminum mounting brackets for the first crossmember behind the engine may fail. If they do, the crossmember can separate from the frame rails, and any components it supports may come loose from the vehicle. Detached parts can become road hazards for other drivers and raise the risk of a crash.

Autocar will notify affected owners, and authorized dealers will replace the aluminum mounting brackets with high tensile steel brackets at no cost to you. Owners may also contact Autocar customer service at 1-888-218-3611 and reference recall ACX-1501.

If you own one of these trucks, contact an authorized dealer to schedule the free repair, and check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
