Kalmar Ottawa T2 Recall 15V177: Reversed Brake Wiring Can Cause Instability and Crashes

NHTSA campaign 15V177, reported March 26, 2015, 52 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2014-2015 Kalmar Ottawa T2 terminal tractors, built between September 15, 2014 and February 10, 2015, have the rear axle antilock brake (ABS) components wired incorrectly. The left-side components are connected to the right side of the ABS control module, and the right-side components are connected to the left side.

If communication between the ABS components and the control module is reversed, the vehicle may become unstable during braking. This increases the risk of a crash. Owners should be aware of this risk, especially when braking on the road.

Kalmar will notify affected owners, and the recall is expected to begin April 27, 2015. Authorized dealers will correct the ABS wiring at no cost to you. For questions, contact Kalmar customer service at 1-785-229-6327. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for any open recalls.
