Itasca Navion Recall 15V135: Doors May Be Hard to Open After a Front Crash

NHTSA campaign 15V135, reported March 9, 2015, 519 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 Winnebago ERA, View, and Itasca Navion motorhomes built on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis may have an abutting wedge installed incorrectly. This wedge is attached to the door jamb to make the door easier to open after a severe frontal impact.

If a vehicle with an incorrectly installed wedge is involved in a severe frontal accident, more force may be needed to open the doors, which increases the risk of injury to occupants who need to get out.

The repair is free. Mercedes-Benz will notify owners, and authorized dealers will check the wedge installation and correct it if necessary. Owners can contact Mercedes-Benz Sprinter customer service at 1-877-762-8267, and should check their VIN for open recalls.
