Chevrolet Cruze Recall 15V113: Parking Brake May Not Hold Vehicle, Risking Rollaway

NHTSA campaign 15V113, reported February 27, 2015, 1,733 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 Chevrolet Cruze vehicles built between February 4 and February 9, 2015 may have a rear parking brake cable bracket that was not properly fastened during assembly. The bracket's bolts can back out completely, allowing the bracket to separate so the parking brake may fail to hold the vehicle in place.

If the parking brake bracket separates, the vehicle may roll away, increasing the risk of a crash. The vehicles also do not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 135 for light vehicle brake systems.

General Motors will notify owners. Dealers will inspect the left-rear and right-rear parking brake bracket bolts and tighten them as needed, at no cost to you. Owners can contact Chevrolet customer service at 1-800-222-1020 and refer to recall number 15135. You can also check your VIN for open recalls.
