Lance Travel Trailer Recall 15V109: Awning screws can fail, letting the awning fall on people below

NHTSA campaign 15V109, reported February 24, 2015, 550 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Certain 2015 Lance Slide-In Campers and Travel Trailers built between April 10, 2014 and December 15, 2014 may have awnings with screws that attach the lateral arm brackets to the mounting brackets. These screws were not manufactured to specification, so they could fail. If a screw fails, the supporting bracket can fail as well, and the awning may fall.

A falling awning could strike and injure a person standing or sitting beneath it. If you own an affected unit, avoid relying on the awning and keep people out from under it until the repair is done.

The repair is free. Dealers will remove and replace the defective screws at no charge. Contact Lance customer service at 1-661-949-3322 to confirm your vehicle is included, and check your VIN for any open recalls.
