Gulf Stream Kingsport Recall 15V104: Incorrect tire label could lead to overinflation and blowout

NHTSA campaign 15V104, reported February 23, 2015, 229 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

This recall covers certain recreational trailers built between October 2009 and August 2013. The tire information label on these trailers does not show the correct tire size and tire pressure. Because the label is wrong, an operator may inflate the tires beyond what they can safely handle.

Over-inflated tires can blow out, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should check the tire label on their trailer and make sure they are following the correct tire size and pressure.

Gulf Stream will mail owners corrected labels along with instructions for installing them, at no charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2015. To confirm whether your trailer is included, call Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787, and check your VIN for open recalls.

Problem
Gulf Stream Coach, Inc. (Gulf Stream) is recalling certain model year 2010-2014 Conquest SE, Trailmaster, and Kingsport recreational trailers, models 265BHS and 265BHG, manufactured October 28, 2009, to August 22, 2013. The tire label on the affected trailers does not contain the correct tire size and tire pressure information. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."
Risk
A tire blowout may result if the operator over inflates the tires due to incorrect label information, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy
Gulf Stream will notify owners and will send owners corrected labels with instructions for the proper installation of the labels, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in March 2015. Owners may contact Gulf Stream customer service at 1-800-289-8787. Gulf Stream's number for this recall is EWR ID 00309.
