Freightliner Business Class M2 Recall 15V094: Brake Warning Light May Not Alert Driver to Reduced Braking

NHTSA campaign 15V094, reported February 19, 2015, 153 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

On certain 2015 Freightliner Business Class M2 trucks built between June and December 2014, the switch that feeds the brake boost pump is incompatible with the instrument cluster. As a result, the dashboard may fail to show a brake warning even when there is a problem in the hydraulic brake system.

If the warning does not appear, the driver may not know that braking force has been reduced. That lack of awareness raises the risk of a crash.

Owners will be notified by Daimler Trucks North America. Dealers will install the correct brake switch at no cost. You can contact DTNA customer service at 1-800-745-8000 and reference recall FL-677, and you should check your vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
