Jaguar XF Recall 15V091: Fuel Pump May Shut Off, Causing Stalls and Crash Risk

What this recall means for you

Certain vehicles built between September 11, 2012, and October 8, 2012, may have electronic modules that control the fuel pump shut down. When this happens, the fuel pump can stop delivering fuel, and the engine may stall. Loss of engine power also means the power-assisted brakes and power-assisted steering may stop working, which can increase the risk of a crash.

If you own a vehicle in this build range, the manufacturer will notify you directly. Authorized dealers will inspect the fuel pump system and, if needed, install an additional wiring harness to the in-tank fuel pump. The repair is free of charge. You can also contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827 and reference recall J051.

Problem
Jaguar Land Rover North America, LLC (Jaguar) is recalling certain model year 2013 XF vehicles manufactured September 11, 2012, to October 8, 2012. The electronic modules which control the fuel pump may shut down causing the fuel pump to stop pumping fuel.
Risk
The fuel pump shutdown will result in the vehicle stalling. The vehicle would also lose power-assisted braking and power-assisted steering. Any of these conditions may increase the risk of a vehicle crash.
Remedy
Jaguar will notify owners, and dealers will inspect, and install if necessary, an additional wiring harness to the in-tank fuel pump, free of charge. The recall began March 23, 2015. Owners may contact Jaguar customer service at 1-800-452-4827. Jaguar's number for this recall is J051.
