What this recall means for you
Some 2015 Chrysler 200 vehicles built between March 9, 2014 and December 15, 2014 with a 9-speed automatic transmission may have a contaminated transmission parking pawl or a dislodged or broken park rod. This can keep the transmission from shifting fully into Park. The shift indicator may show "Park" while the park lock is not actually engaged.
If this happens, the vehicle can roll away even though the display says it is parked, which raises the risk of a crash. Owners should be especially careful to set the parking brake and confirm the vehicle is secured when parking.
The repair is free. Dealers will inspect the transmission and replace any unit found with contamination or a damaged park rod at no charge. Owners can contact Chrysler customer service at 1-800-853-1403 (recall R08), and should check their vehicle identification number for any open recalls.
