Newmar Essex Recall 15V061: Air Brake Valve May Lose Pressure, Reducing Braking

NHTSA campaign 15V061, reported February 3, 2015, 98 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

A component in the air brake system, the quick release valve, may have a rubber diaphragm damaged by sharp edges on the valve seat ribs. This can reduce the air pressure available in the air tanks.

Reduced air pressure may reduce braking performance, and the parking brakes could reapply unexpectedly. Either condition increases the risk of a crash. Owners should contact Newmar customer service at 1-800-731-8300. Newmar will notify owners, and an authorized dealer will inspect and replace the valve free of charge. Check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls to confirm whether your vehicle is affected.
