Kenworth K270 Recall 15V051: Loose Brake Caliper Bolts May Reduce Braking

NHTSA campaign 15V051, reported January 30, 2015, 106 vehicles potentially affected.

What this recall means for you

Some 2015 Kenworth and Peterbilt heavy trucks built between July 21, 2014 and September 16, 2014 may have brake caliper bolts that were not properly torqued. Over time these bolts can loosen, which reduces the effectiveness of the air disc brakes.

Reduced braking power increases the risk of a crash. Owners should not wait to have this checked. Dealers will inspect the caliper bolts and tighten or replace any that are loose, as needed, at no cost to the owner.

If you own an affected truck, contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000 (recall 115B) or Kenworth customer service at 1-425-828-5000 (recall 15KWA), or take it to an authorized dealer. You can also check your vehicle identification number (VIN) for open recalls.
