90sWhile driving, the vehicle will suddenly display a warning message that says âStop Safely Nowâ. When this message appears, the hybrid system overheats and the vehicle immediately loses power. The gasoline engine and electric motor both shut down without warning, even at highway speeds. I am forced to coast to the side of the road, which is extremely dangerous in traffic. This happens after the vehicle has been driven for a short period of time. The cooling fans appear to be running, but the hybrid electronics system overheats and triggers the shutdown safety mode. After waiting for the vehicle to cool down, it will restart, but the problem continues every time the car reaches normal

WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEUTRAL, IT SHIFTED INTO DRIVE ON ITS OWN. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE CONTACT'S SON STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WERE DRAGGING AFTER IT JUMPED. IN ADDITION, "OVERDRIVE" APPEARED ON THE CONTROL PANEL THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA.
