The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Mariner Hybrid. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated the stop on the side warning message was illuminated. The contact was able to park on the side of the road and was able to restart the vehicle within 5 minutes. The contact stated he continued to experience the failure. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and was referred to a local dealer to diagnose the failure. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the radiator thermostat to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired but was pending repairs. IN STOP AND GO CITY TRAFFIC GOING ABOUT 1 MILE AN HOUR I BRAKED BUT MY MARINER DIDN'T AND I SLOWLY REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. MY ABS SENSOR WENT ON THEN OFF EVENTUALLY AN ABS REGEN LIGHT CAME ON AND I HAD NO BRAKES SO I DROVE ,VERY CAREFULLY, 83 MILES TO MY FORD DEALER ( WITH NO BRAKES) TO FIND OUT THAT I NEEDED A COMPLETE REPLACEMENT OF MY ABS HYBRID BRAKING MODULE. $3900! MY MECHANIC AND I CALLED TWO DIFFERENT JUNK YARDS WHERE WE RECEIVED REPLACEMENTS AND THEY WERE INSTALLED BUT WHEN BROUGHT BACK TO THE FORD DEALER THE UNITS WOULDN'T TAKE THE COMPUTER CODE AND THE (USED) SYSTEMS FAILED. $3900 IS A LOT OF MONEY FOR A VEHICLE, WITH 158,000 MILES ON IT, THAT I BOUGHT USED FOR UNDER $5000

WHEN SLOWING FOR A STOP SIGN ON A SUBURBAN STREET, THE VEHICLE LOST ALL BRAKING POWER. (IT HAD SHOWN NO PRIOR PROBLEMS.) WE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED - BOTH FRONT HYDRAULIC LINES HAD BROKEN.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2006 MERCURY MARINER HYBRID DOWN THE ROAD GOING APPROXIMATELY 35-40 MPH. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AND THE DASH READ STOP SAFELY NOW. I COULD STILL STEER AND BRAKE. IT WOULD NOT RESTART RIGHT AWAY. I TRIED RESTARTING IN ABOUT A HALF AN HOUR AND IT STARTED. I THEN DROVE FOR APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF AGAIN AND THE SAME DASH READING . I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN ENGINE SHUTS DOWN AND DASH READS PULL OVER SAFELY NOW. IT WOULD NOT START BACK UP RIGHT AWAY. I TRIED STARTING IT ABOUT A HALF HOUR LATER AND IT STARTED. I DROVE MAYBE 100 YARDS AND THE VEHICLE DID THE SAME THING. I FINALLY GOT IT TO OUR DRIVEWAY AND IT SHUT OFF AGAIN. IT CONTINUES TO DO THE SAME THING.EVEN WHEN NOT DRIVING IT.
