What owners report
TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS EVERY SINCE I BOUGHT IT AND NOW THE OVERDRIVE IS OUT. *TR
HOOD LATCH FAILURE. HOOD POPPED OPEN AND SMASHED THE ROOF ON MY TRUCK. FIRST DAIMLER CHRYSLER SAID THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE I RECIEVED A RECALL NOTICE (WHICH I DIDN'T) AND ALSO THE PLACE THAT I HAD THE RECALL FIXED TO BEGIN WITH WILL NOT FIX MY VEHICLE. I HAVE HAD THIS HOOD LATCH REPLACED ONCE ALREADY IN JUNE 2001 ( OR SO I THOUGHT) WHEN THE HOOD BLEW OPEN THE FIRST TIME.*AK
VEHICLE TOWED BECAUSE IT HAD FAILURE OF BRAKE LINES...(RUSTED IN HALF). THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVER OCCURRED IN A CLOSED SYSTEM. NO WATER WAS ABLE TO GET INTO THE SYSTEM. IF THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED IN HALF AS IS WHAT OCCURRED ENABLING LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID...THIS WOULD RESULT IN FAILURE OF THE VEHICLES BRAKING SYSTEM. THIS TYPE OF FAILURE WOULD PUT ALL OF THE PUBLIC AT RISK AS FAILURE COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME. FORTUNATELY, MY VEHICLE WAS BEING TOWED TO A DODGE DEALER FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE BRAKE LINES AS THEY RUSTED IN HALF IN A VERY SHORT TIME FRAME.*AK
THE FUEL FILTER CLOGS BUT THERE IS A SHORT BYPASS HOSE TO THE MIDDLE LEVEL OF THE TANK, WHEN THE FILTER CLOGS THE SYSTEM RECEIVES UNFILTERED THROUGH THE BYPASS HOSE, WHEN THE LEVEL GOES BELOW 1/2 TANK. THE PUMP SUCKS AIR AND THE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN FOR LACK OF FUEL. THIS IS A DESIGN FLAW AND NOT A CRITICAL SAFETY PROBLEM BUT IT DOES AFFECT SAFETY TO AN EXTENT. I.E. YOU THINK YOU HAVE A HALF TANK OF GAS. BUT IT MAY STOP AT ANY TIME WITHOUT WARNING. O IN HEAVY TRAFFIC LOR ON THE RAIL ROAD TRACKS.
GAS GAUGE IS FAILING TO OPERATE. *AK THE FUEL GAUGE STARTED NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AT ABOUT 42000 MILES. ALSO THE LIGHTED LOW FUEL INDICATOR COMES ON ALL TIME. *YH
