The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. -It is my concern that the Information System has been designed in a way that BMW Motorrad to show that Recall obligations have been fulfilled though they may not have been. Other owners of effected motorcycles may have similarly encountered such an obstacle and would have had to resolve the problem at their own expense, while the BMW Motorrad system would show that the Recall was done even though, possibly in many cases, it would have been j

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 BMW F 800 ST. WHILE OPERATING THE MOTORCYCLE AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE REAR WHEEL WOULD WOBBLE AND VIBRATE, WHICH MADE THE REAR END VERY UNSTABLE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER (MAX BMW MOTORCYCLES, 845 HOOSICK ST, TROY NY) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CYCLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V549000 (WHEELS). THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE CYCLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME FAILURE LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THE REAR WHEEL BEARING WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AS WELL AS THE REAR AXLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE DUE TO THE REAR BEARING FAILURE. THE PLASTIC MOUNTING PLATE HOLDING THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL GAUGE SENDING UNIT DEVELOPED A HAIRLINE CRACK. THIS CRACK ALLOWED FUEL TO ESCAPE FROM THE TANK UNCONTROLLED, WHICH COULD CAUSE A FIRE. THE MOTORCYCLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, WHERE A GAS WATER HEATER NEARBY COULD HAVE IGNITED THE FUMES. THIS CRACK WAS NOT CAUSED BY ANY CONTACT OR PRESSURE FROM ANY OTHER COMPONENT OF THE MOTORCYCLE AS IT IS PROTECTED BENEATH THE SEAT AND A SUBSTANTIAL RECESS IN THE FUEL TANK. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP ADMITTED THAT THEY REPLACE AS MANY AS TWO OF THESE CRACKED MOUNTING PLATES PER MONTH. THIS CONDITION WAS NOT FOUND ON ANY RECALL NOTIFICATION THAT WE ARE AWARE OF. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MOUNTING PLATE IS NO
